How to Apply for TU Equivalence Online: A Step-by-Step Guide

A current guide to the higher-education equivalence transition from TU CDC to UGC, with official places to check before applying.

Current status: confirm the UGC process before applying

The older online process described in this article was run through Tribhuvan University’s Curriculum Development Centre (TU CDC). TU CDC has published a notice saying it stopped accepting higher-education equivalence applications from 2083/04/01 and that the University Grants Commission (UGC) will carry out that function. Start with the TU CDC transition notice and the UGC university-coordination division.

This page keeps its original URL so readers can find the update. It is no longer a step-by-step application guide because a current public UGC application workflow, document list, fee schedule, and collection procedure were not available in the official sources reviewed.

Before you apply

  1. Check UGC’s current official website for the active equivalence notice or application route.
  2. Read the current notice for your qualification and country of study before preparing or translating documents.
  3. Ask the responsible authority directly to confirm the required documents, upload format, fee, payment method, processing time, and collection arrangements for your case.
  4. Keep copies of the notice, application record, receipts, and any written response you receive.

Requirements can differ by qualification and purpose. Do not rely on the former TU CDC portal screens, a fixed fee, a file-size limit, or a stated processing time as current rules.

What changed from the earlier guide

The original guide showed a TU CDC account, upload, payment, and tracking flow. Those screenshots record a past experience, are not evidence of the current UGC process, and have not been carried into this replacement site. The following earlier claims have therefore been removed rather than presented as current policy:

  • a universal document checklist or translation/notarization rule;
  • a five-year provisional-certificate rule;
  • NPR 1,000 or NPR 4,000 fees;
  • eSewa payment instructions and a 5 MB upload limit;
  • one- or two-day approval expectations; and
  • collection, authorization, and validity statements.

Important note for NEC, NOC, study, or employment

An equivalence certificate may be requested in some situations, but the requirement depends on the organisation and the applicant’s circumstances. Confirm the requirement with the institution, regulator, bank, employer, or visa authority that asked for it. For NEC registration, the official portal lists an equivalence certificate for foreign-study candidates if applicable; see the NEC registration guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still follow the old TU CDC online steps?

No. TU CDC’s notice says it stopped accepting higher-education equivalence applications from 2083/04/01. Check UGC’s current official notice and route before submitting anything.

How much does equivalence cost?

This guide does not state a current fee because the official UGC fee schedule for this process was not verified in the sources reviewed. Confirm it directly with the current authority.

How long will it take?

Processing time was not verified from a current official source. Ask the authority handling your application and avoid planning against the historical timing in the earlier version of this guide.
